College composer triumphs at Grammy Awards

His disc was nominated against strong competition in the Best Choral Performance category, including from Stephen Layton and the choir of Trinity College, Cambridge.
Mr Whitacre visits Sidney regularly to teach conducting as part of the University’s Master of Music in Choral Studies course, and to support the work of the college choir and Director of Music.
His work ’Alleluia’ received its premiere at the second biennial Sidney Sussex Arts Festival in June 2011.
