Edinburgh launches Chancellor's Fellowships
The University is to appoint up to 100 Chancellor’s Fellowships across its 22 Schools.
This represents a major investment in the future of teaching and research at the institution across all disciplines.
These are prestigious awards aimed at high potential academics in the early stages of their careers who have begun to establish a reputation for top quality research.
Success enables investment
The University has been able to make this investment because of its highly successful research, teaching and commercialisation performance.
The University is looking for candidates whose research furthers the high international reputation of the University and who have a strong commitment to postgraduate and undergraduate training.
The creation of new Fellowships in such numbers demonstrates the University’s commitment to creating an environment in which the brightest academics can thrive and go on to push back boundaries with world-leading research of the highest quality.
Professor Nigel Brown
Senior Vice Principal
Five-year Fellowship
Academics wanting to work in interdisciplinary fields are particularly welcome.
The Fellowship is held for five years, subject to a review at the end of year three, and the Fellow will then move to a standard University academic open-ended contract.
The first year of the Fellowship will focus on establishing the Fellow’s research programme, with a limited amount of teaching.
Teaching and administration will gradually increase over the five- year period to that of a normal academic load in the relevant discipline.
Substantial mentoring and development support will be available through and beyond their Fellowship provided by the Institute for Academic Development.
How to apply
Candidates should apply online via the University of Edinburgh recruitment website, enclosing a detailed CV and a one page outline of a proposed research programme.
