Engineering: second most citations in Europe
UCL Engineering is the second most impactful engineering faculty in Europe according to Times Higher Education.
Data abstracted from the Essential Science Indicators database of Thomson Reuters, covering the period January 2000 to August 2010, surveyed journal articles. These were then assigned to a category based on the journals in which they were published and according to the Thomson Reuters journal-to-field classification scheme.
Each of the European universities was then given a world ranking for impact based on this data, with UCL being placed second out of 109,500 institutions surveyed. UCL published 1,333 engineering papers over the period gaining 11,776 citations, which is an average of 8.83 citations per paper.
