Green tourism silver award for Weetwood Hall
Award-winning Weetwood Hall Conference Centre & Hotel has received the silver award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) for their efforts in environmental and sustainable working practices.
GTBS is the national sustainable tourism certification for the UK and one of the largest and most established schemes of its kind in the world.
This was Weetwood Hall’s first assessment by the GTBS upon becoming a member, and its initial success reflects the hard work and enthusiasm by the team at Weetwood Hall, to developing responsible sustainable tourism practises. This is supported by the team’s commitment towards the local community and the Head Chef’s passion for regionally sourced food.
Tourism agency, Welcome to Yorkshire, was on hand to help advise Weetwood Hall’s ’green initiatives’ along with developing a more visitor-friendly and interactive sustainability website.
Peter Chubb, General Manager of Weetwood Hall said: "We take the sustainability and environmental issues very seriously and are delighted that our ’thinking green’ efforts have been recognised by GTBS as more and more conference and events organisers are looking for venues with proven sustainable working practices."
