Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition 2012
21 September 2011 - LEEDS
Published 21 September 2011 Learning and teaching , Research
Do you have what it takes to enthuse thousands of people about science? If so, then why not exhibit at the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition 2012.
Each year the Royal Society selects teams at the forefront of UK science and technology to showcase their research. The 2012 Summer Science Exhibition will take place from 3-8 July 2012.
Why Exhibit?
The Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition offers a unique opportunity to:
- join the Royal Society in highlightling the importance of scientific research and celebrating cutting edge UK science
- raise the profile of your research and institution with key influencers, including potential funders, government and the public
- tap into the Society's extensive and influential media networks
- enthuse 2,000 secondary school students about science and careers in science
- engage with over 10,000 members of the public, and tens of thousands more online
- enhance your communication skills
- network with other research teams and scientists, and enjoy yourself!
The Exhibition makes a significant contribution to the Society's work in encouraging public engagement with science and promoting science education. It gives scientists an opportunity to put their research and institution in the spotlight, and the public a chance to find out more about new scientific advances by meeting the minds behind them. The large number of secondary school students attending the Exhibition also gives exhibitors the opportunity to influence and enthuse potential university students about careers in science.
Each year the Society's selection Commitee, chaired by Professor John Pickett FRS, will select around 20-25 teams of UK scientists to share the excitement of their research at the Summer Science Exhibition. The emphasis is on interactive and hands-on exhibits that will enthuse the general public about new scientific advances.
