Trustee role for King’s History Professor

Professor Ludmilla Jordanova
Professor Ludmilla Jordanova, from the Department of History, has been appointed a Trustee of the National Museum of Science and Industry (NMSI).
As a trustee Professor Jordanova will offer her advice and services to the NMSI over a four-year period.
Professor Jordanova joined King’s in 2006 as Professor of Modern History. She is a pre-eminent historian of science and medicine and was President of the British Society for the History of Science from 1998 to 2000. She served as President of the History of Science Section of the British Association for the Advancement of Science in 2006 and was a Trustee of the National Portrait Gallery from 2001 to 2009.
Professor Jordanova said: ‘It is a great honour to be appointed a Trustee of the National Museum of Science and Industry. This major national and international institution plays a central role in bringing an understanding of science, medicine and technology - and their fascinating pasts - to wider publics.
‘As a historian of science and medicine who works with images and artefacts, I feel great enthusiasm for all the main sites in York, Bradford and London, and look forward to making a contribution to an organisation that is so rich in terms of resources and research.’
Professor Jordanova’s joins three other newly appointed trustees: Professor Dame Athene Donald of Cambridge University, former Executive Chairman of ITV Lord Grade and Siemens UK and North West Europe business leader Andreas Goss.
The National Museum of Science and Industry is comprised of the Science Museum in London, the National Railway Museum in York, the National Media Museum in Bradford and Locomotion in Shildon.
Dianne Rekow, Senior Vice Provost of Engineering and Technology at New York University (NYU) and Provost of Polytechnic Institute of NYU, has been appointed as the next Dean of the Dental Institute at King’s.
A worldwide study led by King’s researchers has found no clear evidence that exclusive breastfeeding for four months or longer protects against childhood eczema.
The Environmental Research Group (ERG) at King’s has updated its London Air Quality Network website, making information on air pollution more accessible to the public than ever before.
