UNC-King’s Alliance launches partnership website
King’s College London and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), strategic partners since 2006, have announced the launch of a joint online gateway dedicated to giving information to students and staff about the alliance and highlighting the breadth and depth of the strategic partnership. The Alliance offers opportunities for student exchange, faculty exchange and research collaboration in disciplines ranging from the arts to the health sciences.
The site has been developed jointly by King’s Worldwide, a College office overseeing the development and implementation of the King’s International Strategy, and UNC Global, a similar enterprise that is responsible for the strategic execution of UNC’s internationalisation objectives. King’s now has College-level strategic partnership agreements with seven universities worldwide, as part of its strategy to encourage research collaboration and exchange of staff and students.
The UNC-King’s Strategic Alliance website was launched on Friday 10 February and is the result of a university-wide collaboration between both institutions.
UNC-Chapel Hill and King’s have developed a wide-ranging Strategic Alliance that combines the strengths of two global academic research institutions. The Alliance was initially signed in 2006 between UNC College of Arts and Sciences and King’s Schools of Arts & Humanities and Social Science and Public Policy. The Alliance continues to grow, with disciplines engaged now being College-wide.
Keith Hoggart, Vice-Principal for External Relations at King’s commented: ‘A key gain from the new website is the capacity it provides to inform internal and external audiences of the exciting developments and events that are taking place as part of the King’s-UNC partnership. Illustrating the breadth and depth of joint activities between us can only help inspire and motivate us toward enhancing the quality of research, teaching and innovation endeavours in both institutions.’
Ron Strauss, Executive Associate Provost and Chief International Officer at UNC added: ‘The website’s launch is an exciting development in furthering UNC Global and King’s Worldwide’s relationship as strategic partners. The collaboration demonstrates both institutions’ efforts to coordinate global and outreach to help strengthen the partnership.’
The website will serve as a point of reference for information about the Alliance, as well as featuring news, events, accomplishments and exchange opportunities.
Bob Miles, Associate Dean for Study Abroad and International Exchanges commented: ‘King’s has been a valuable partner in developing programs to advance scholarship and international perspectives for our students.’
David Ricks, Professor of Modern Greek & Comparative Literature and UNC partnership liaison lead at King’s, commented: ‘ We are confident that with our new webpages, we will be able to encourage a wider range of students, faculty, and staff on both campuses to find out more about the Alliance and to generate the ideas that will enable it to evolve in exciting new directions.’
