University art collective wins top award
FOUND, the band and art collective, has won the first annual List Award for exceptional contribution to Scottish arts.
Fronted by Ziggy Campbell and Professor Simon Kirby, both from the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences, FOUND were honoured for their 2011 album Factorycraft and their interactive art installations produced with the support of the University.
Their projects include the Bafta-winning robot band Cybraphon, the sound installation End of Forgetting, and their forthcoming contribution to Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations.
Hot 100
The award was presented on at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery as part of The List's Hot 100 Party. The magazine’s judges praised FOUND's quirky innovations, including pressing one of their singles as a chocolate record, and ability to work across different genres.
FOUND were short listed with the likes of musician King Creosote, playwright David Greig, Turner Prize-nominee Karla Black, and film director David Mackenzie.
