Write Me a Picture: Writing Workshop
The Leeds Independent Presses Poetry (LIPP) Festival 2011 kicks off on 24 September at the Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds, with a programme of readings from 25 poets, workshops, symposiums and talks.
To celebrate the festival, the Gallery's Burton Saturdays event series is hosting Suzie Evans's special Write Me a Picture workshop on 17 September.
Visiting both the Brotherton Library and the Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery, the writing workshop will use the current special collections exhibition as a stimulus for writing exercises. The workshop is suitable for anyone interested in writing poetry, whether experienced or just starting out.
The workshop is free and takes place on Saturday, 17 September between 10.30-1pm. Places are limited so please book your place in advance by e-mailing Zsuzsa at libzmp [a] leeds.ac (p) uk , calling (0113) 34 32777, or going online.
The Brotherton Library has also prepared a special display entitled LIPPS Unzipped, focusing on the history of independent publishing at the University. The display will be open for visitors between 13 and 28 September 2011.
